Marie Z. Dabiew

Marie Z. (Villnave) Dabiew, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 19, 2017. Arrangements are entrusted to the Flint Funeral Home, Moira, NY.

Marie was born in Brushton, NY on August 16, 1928, the daughter of Howard and Violet (Mayville) Villnave. She married Gerald Dabiew on February 14, 1947. They raised their family and lived their 42 years of marriage in Moira, NY.

Marie enjoyed spending time with her family; especially the holiday celebrations, playing radio bingo and cards. She loved sewing and crafting and could often be found crocheting her towels at the local craft fairs. She was a member of the Brushton-Moira Historical Society, Brushton-Moira American Legion and the Amvets in Malone.

She will remain in the hearts of her seven children; Jane (Dabiew) and Stephen Shorette, Philip and Brenda Dabiew, Gerald Dabiew Jr., Donald and Ann Dabiew, Barry and Janis Dabiew, Alan Dabiew, JoAnn (Dabiew) and Gary Dumville, and her daughter-in-law Eileen Dabiew. Besides her children, she is survived by her long-time companion James McMahon and her siblings Benjamin Villnave, Theresa Barcomb, Beverly VanGorder, and sister-in-law Eula Bouvier. She has forever touched the lives of her 13 grandchildren; Rhonda Shorette-Peets, Leon Shorette, Michele French, Brian Dabiew, Kim Hebert, Todd Dabiew, Kristy Harrigan, Michael Dabiew, Holly Myhre, Heather Hardy, Joshua Dabiew, Drew Dumville, and Emily Dumville; along with Mike Robinson, Justin Robinson and Chico Dankenbring. Her compassion for family will be eternally remembered by her great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held Wednesday (May 24) from 4-7 at the Flint Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating Marie's life will be Thursday 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will commence in the Moira Cemetery.

Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband Gerald Dabiew; her brothers Joseph and Cecil Villnave; and her sisters, Emma Montroy and Ileen Melvin.
