BRUSHTON – Mary E. Traynor, 92, passed away Sunday morning (Dec. 3, 2017) with the love of her son Jerome at her side. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
Born Dec. 2, 1925 in Bloomingdale, NY the daughter of the late Maurice & Bessie (Hoyte) Durkin. She was a graduate of Brushton High School. April 17, 1948 Mary united into marriage with Carl M. Traynor at St. Mary's Church in Brushton with the Rev. A.J. O'Brien presiding. He predeceased her on June 18, 2001. At one time she was employed with the Elliots Slipper factory. Prior to becoming a teachers aide at Brushton-Moira Central School she worked in the cafeteria, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of the Brushton-Moira Senior Citizens, member of the Senior Housing Board, Knit Wits, and Home Bureau.
Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her children Diana King of Chateaugay, Martha (Larry) Lamica of Brushton, Jerome M. Traynor of Brushton and Carol (Brian) Zoellner of South Carolina. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by her siblings Hilda Durkin, Dorothy Anderson, Vida Brown, Harlow Durkin, Jack Durkin, and a son-in-law Garth King.
A time of visitation will be held Thursday (Dec. 7) from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Flint Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday (Dec. 8) at 11:00 a.m. Burial will commence in St. Mary's Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Carl.
