BRASHER – Corleen R. Demers, 88, passed away on Monday (Dec. 25, 2017) at Massena Memorial Hospital where she had been in failing health. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
Born in Brushton on April 3, 1929 the daughter of the late Edward and Carmen (Gale) Smith. She attended the Bombay High School. She was the wife of the late Joseph W. (Bill) Demers, he predeceased her on Jan 4, 2012. At one time Corleen provided home health care to the elderly however spent most of her life as a home maker. She was a member of home bureau, and loved to knit, crochet, needlepoint, embroidery, and had a tender heart toward animals.
Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her children Alice (Larry) Goodspeed of Massena, Wayne (Sherrie) Demers of Brasher, Janet (Marshall) Emburey of Norwood, Matthew Demers and his companion Carolyn Fox of Plattsburgh, adopted children Rosie (James) Maier of Utica, Kathy Figueroa of New Jersey and a sister-in-law Myrtle Smith of Brasher. Also surviving her are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunt Edna LaFave, several nieces, nephews and many special cousins.
Besides her parents and husband she is predeceased by her siblings a brother Glen Smith in 1982, twin sister Caroline (Smith) Derouchie -Sharlow in 1999 and Harriett (Smith) Snyder in 2017.
A time of visitation will be held Friday (Dec. 29) from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Funeral services celebrating Corleen's life will commence Saturday 11 am at the Brasher Falls United Methodist Church. Interment will take place in the spring.
Memorial contributions in Corleen's honor may be made to the Tri-Town Vol. Rescue Squad.
