Edna Elsie Cornell

NORTH BANGOR – With heavy hearts, the family of Edna Elsie Cornell, 95, announces her passing on Wednesday (April 4, 2018) in the comfort of her own home. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home Moira.

Born February 11, 1923 in Brushton, she was the youngest daughter of the late Almon and Blanche (Greeno) Drake. She attended school in Brushton, and was employed at the F. W. Woolworth Store in Malone. She united in marriage with Donald A. Cornell on July 27, 1948 at St. Mary's Church in Brushton with the Rev. O'Brian officiating. Donald predeceased her on January 6, 2001.

For many years Edna worked hard alongside her husband on the family farm "Scattered Acres". Edna greatly enjoyed watching the antics of the birds and squirrels at the outdoor feeders by her dining room window. For many years she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and gardening. Her wonderful doughnuts and delicious meals were always a treat for her family. Edna treasured every moment spent with her family. She was a long time communicant of St. Augustine's Church, North Bangor.

Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her two sons Stephen (Sue) Cornell of Chaumont, Paul (Sheila) Cornell of North Bangor, and a daughter Marjorie (Thomas) Quesnell of Morrisonville. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband she is predeceased by a grandson Stephen Donald Cornell "Stevie D" and three sisters Marquerita Smith, Erma Tucker, and Doris Drake.

Calling hours will be held Sunday April 8, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence Monday 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church, North Bangor. Fr Raymond Moreau will be celebrating and Fr. Kris Lauzon will be concelebrating as well as the Homilist. Interment will be held May 11, 2018 at 1p.m, in the parish cemetery where Edna will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Donald.

Memorial contributions may be made to the North Bangor Vol. Fire and Rescue, Alice Ballard Hospice fund or to Franklin County Office of the Aging.
