Obituary of Phyllis Kirk
MOIRA –– Phyllis J. Kirk, 73, passed away Friday evening, Aug. 19, 2016, at her home, surrounded by the love and support of her family. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
Born June 4, 1943, in Little Falls, New York, she was the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Jodway) Cramer. After attending St. Regis Falls Central School, she later took some business courses. As a child growing up, Phyllis had a passion for fishing, whether it was catching them or cleaning them –– she became known throughout her family as the “Queen of the Fish.” On Dec. 26, 1998, Phyllis united in marriage with Andrew Kirk. Phyllis was a very giving person, and would always go above and beyond to help someone, with a genuine caring heart.
Special memories will be forever in the hearts of her husband, Andrew; her child Howie (Janet) Brittain of Buffalo; stepchildren Andrew (Donna) Kirk of Cortland, Robin (Harold) Stalen of Oneida, Debby Seaver of Herkimer, Walter Burns of Cortland, Mark Burns of Providence, Rhode Island, and Cindy Burns of North Carolina. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Steve (Allison) Brittain, Justin (Rebecca) Brittain, Wesley Brittain, and Mary (Sam) Bennett; 10 stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her siblings Ronald (Vicky) Cramer, Carolyn (William) Quinlan and Helene Cramer, all of Missouri, also survive her.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Flint Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 1 p.m at St. Mary’s Church, Brushton. Interment will commence in the Santa Clara Cemetery.
