BRASHER FALLS - Harriett E. (Smith) Snyder, 93, passed away Sunday December 24, at Massena Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home in Moira.
Born May 15, 1924 in Brasher Falls, the daughter of Edward "Winton" and Carmen (Gale) Smith. She graduated from Bombay High School.
On October 16, 1944 Harriett united into marriage with Harold Snyder at the Bangor Methodist Church, he predeceased her on June 11, 2010. Harriett is a retired house keeper. She was a member of the Order of the Easter Star Covington Chapter, and the Bombay Methodist Church.
"Hello and I Love you" were Harriett's words no matter who called on the phone. She treasured her family and loved blessing them with her chocolate cakes and popcorn. Harriett is known for her doughnuts and especially her hugs which you would get no matter if she knew you or not. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, knitting and search word puzzles. She loved family gatherings at her home.
Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her Daughter-in-law Joan (Demers) Snyder of Brasher Falls, Grandson Patrick Snyder and his companion Andrea Thompson of Brasher Falls, Granddaughter Tammy (Troy) Savage of Massena. Harold and Harriett gave much love in raising two children they called their own Robert (Joan) Clark of Brasher Falls (BJ/Cherie and Amanda/Adam) and Alice Savage of Wyoming (Jamie, Janna, JD, Janine, Christopher, Brittany and Jeremiah). Also surviving are 7 great grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Harriett is predeceased by her sons Roger Snyder in 1966 and Darrell Snyder in 2016, a grandson Christopher Snyder in 1982, a brother Glen Smith in 1982, twin sisters Carolyn (Smith) Derouchie -Sharlow in 1999 and Corleen (Smith) Demers in 2017.
A time of visitation will be held Thursday (Dec. 28th) from 2-4, an Eastern Star service will be held at 3:30, and from 6-8 at the Flint Funeral Home, in Moira. Funeral services will commence Friday (Dec. 29th) at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring at the Hillside Rest Cemetery in Bombay.
