Obituary of Darrell Snyder
Brasher Falls – Darrell W. Snyder, 67, passed away Sunday morning (Aug. 28th) at Massena Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love and support of his family. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
Born September 3, 1948 in Massena, the son of Harold and Harriett (Smith) Snyder. After graduation from Salmon River Central School, he enlisted in the United States Army, going on to serve in the Army Reserves in Canton. Darrell was employed at General Motors for many years, and owned and operated his own Backhoe & Dozer Service. November 9, 1968 Darrell united into marriage with Joan Demers in Bombay, NY.
Darrell’s wit and humor always kept people on their toes, however his love that he had for his family and friends will never be forgotten.
Special memories will be forever in the hearts of his wife Joan, mother Harriett of Brasher Falls, his son Patrick Snyder and his companion Andrea Thompson of Brasher Falls, and his daughter Tammy (Troy) Savage of Massena. He is also survived by five grandchildren Nickie (Tom) Donahue of Massena, Megan (Rob) Spoon of Brasher Falls, Brian Snyder of Massena, Tifanny Savage of Massena, Katelyn Thompson-Snyder of Brasher Falls, and 2 chosen grandchildren Bonita Arquiett of Raymondville and Karlee Thompson of Cornwall, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His sister-in-law Marlene Demers and two very close cousins Robert (Joan) Clark of Brasher Falls and Alice Savage of Wyoming also survive Darrell.
Besides his father Harold he is predeceased by a brother Roger Snyder and a nephew Christopher Snyder.
Friends are invited to call at the Flint Funeral Home, Thursday (Sept. 1st) from 2-4 and 6-8. The Eastern Star, Covington Chapter will hold a service at 3:00, followed by the Masonic Northern Aurora Lodge at 3:15. Funeral services will commence Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hillside Rest Cemetery in Bombay.
Memorial Contributions in Darrell’s honor may be made to the Helena Fire and Rescue or Tri-Town Rescue.
