Obituary of Ambrose Snyder

MOIRA – With heavy hearts, the family of Ambrose G. Snyder ,91, announces his passing on Tuesday (Jan. 30, 2018) at his home. He was comforted and surrounded by his loving family at his side.

Ambrose was born December 6, 1926 in Bombay the son of the late Jeremiah "Jerry" & Rose (Martin) Snyder. After attending school locally he was drafted into the United State Army. On Sept 1, 1952 Ambrose united into marriage with Teresa Cherrier with the Rev. Gerald Kellogg officiating.

Ambrose was a hard worker, he was a self employed mechanic, where he owned a scrap yard. People from the surrounding area would stop by and purchase car parts from him. Later he began Snyder's Rubbish Removal, and is carried down through the generation of his son Philip. Ambrose loved entertaining his family and friends by playing his harmonica. He enjoyed dancing, especially that night at the Trumble Dance Hall where he danced with Teresa for the first time. A waltz that lasted 65 years. Feeding birds, pigeons, rabbits, and caring for and loving his cats brought him peace. Ambrose had a unique collection of antique model cars that he obtained through out the years that he was proud of.

Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of his wife Teresa, his children; Cheryl (Leon) White of Brushton , Donald Snyder and his companion Tina Lucey of Brushton, Philip Snyder of Dickinson, Brenda (Lance) Menke of Brushton, Shirley Milliser and her companion Robert Jock of Brushton, and Christie (Robert) Bonville of Brushton. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ambrose was the last survivor of a family of eight. His siblings Blanche Baker, Nevada Snyder, Rosella Snyder, Robert Snyder, Wilfred Snyder, Flora Steele and a brother Jeremiah Jr who passed away during his infancy. Along with is siblings he is also predeceased by a son Robert who passed away in 1995.

A time of visitation will be held Sunday (Feb. 4) from 1-5 at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Funeral Services celebrating Ambrose's life will commence Monday 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, North Bangor, with the Rev. Raymond Moreau presiding. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bombay in the spring at a time to be announced.
