BRUSHTON - With heavy hearts, the family of Iola M. Ranieri, 88, announce her passing on Saturday (August 4, 2018) at Folts Home, Herkimer, NY. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. She was born in Moira on April 25, 1930, the daughter of the late John Andrew (Andy) & Mary Susan (Young) Woods. She was a graduate of Moira High School where she earned her New York State Regents Diploma. Following that she attended Watertown School of Commerce. On April 14, 1955 Iola united into marriage with Joseph Ranieri at St. Mary's Church, Brushton. He predeceased her on May 7, 1999. She was employed as an accountant with Potsdam Hospital and later at MM Trust in Malone. She and her husband Joseph operated Ranieri's Tax Service in Brushton. Iola was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Brushton and a member of the Alter & Rosary Society. For many years Iola was instrumental in the Catechism program at St. Mary's Church. She enjoyed knitting, making Christmas decorations, and gardening. Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her son Michael (Joyce) Ranieri of Brushton, and her daughters Mary-Margaret (Daniel) Ranieri-Riesel of Ilion, and Martha (Scott) Sturgen of Moira. Also surviving her are her 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Her siblings Roger (Sandra) Woods of Potsdam, and Ira John (Patty) Woods of Massena also survive her. Besides her parents and husband she is predeceased by a son Matthew who passed away on September 2, 2011, and her siblings Leland Woods, Ralph Woods, Betty Beha, and her twin sister Iona. A time of visitation will be held Wednesday (August 8th) from 10-12 at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Iola's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, Brushton, with the Rev. Raymond Moreau presiding. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery where Iola will be laid to rest beside her beloved Joseph. Condolences and memories may be shared at
