DICKINSON – With heavy hearts the family of Wayne "Jay" Goyea, 83, announces his passing on Friday (Aug. 10, 2018) at the Highland Nursing Home, Massena.
Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
Born February 15, 1935 in Dickinson the son of Arthur and Mina (Cox) Goyea, he attended the rural school in Dickinson. He enjoyed hunting, camping at the many campgrounds in the area, traveling abroad to Spain, Alaska, and Hawaii, woodworking, and spending time with his family. For over 40 years he was employed with Alcoa, Massena and was member of the 25 year club.
He married Rhonda Wood, the couple later divorced. Together they were blessed with three sons and one daughter Wayne J. Goyea, Jr. of Cedar Hills, MO, Marilyn (Goyea) Esmond of Leland, N.C, Roger Goyea of Cedar Hills, MO, and Gregory Goyea of Tucson, AZ. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
September 26, 1990 Jay united into marriage with Lois (Richards) Wood at St. Mary's Church Brushton. He is survived by and loved by Lois's children; Ramona (Robert) Gwiner III of Ohio, Peggy (Alan) Russell of Massena, Rose (William) Greenwood of Dickinson, Gail Woodruff of Texas, Shirley (Richard) Budd of Brushton, and Richard Wood and his companion Dawn Schwahl. Along with 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren survive him.
His siblings Alice LaChance of Moira, Glenda Sartwell of Bangor and Ronald Goyea of North Bangor survive him.
Besides his parents he is predeceased by a sister Margie.
A time of visitation will be held Thursday (Aug 16th) from 11-11:50 at St. Mary's Church Brushton. Jay's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon at the church with the Rev. Raymond Moreau presiding. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
