Obituary of Shirley A LaFountain

Moira – With heavy hearts the family of Shirley A. LaFountain , 78, announce her passing on September 30, 2018. Shirley's children were at her side providing comfort and love. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Born June 11, 1940 in Ellenburg Center, the daughter of Patrick S. and Clayda M. (Smith) Malark. She was educated locally in Ellenburg, later receiving her GED. Shirley was united in marriage on November 10, 1956 to Charles C. LaFountain at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg, New York. They raised their family in the North Country. Special memories will be forever in the hearts of her children, Charles (Elisa) LaFountain of Johnson City, Tennessee, Lisa (Stanley) Bonesteel of North Bangor, and Melissa S. LaFountain-Boardway and her companion Al Campbell Jr. of Moira. She was also treasured by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Andrew C. (Kaela) Bonesteel of Constable, Jennifer M. Bonesteel and her companion Aaron Beane of Malone, Alexander C. LaFountain of Moira, Aurora S. Campbell of Saranac Lake, David Campbell of Moira, Brynn, Brystal, and Brennen Bonesteel of Constable, Brielle Smith, Christopher and Taylor Beane of Malone, Leighton Carter and Alysn of Saranac Lake. She is also survived by a brother Harland (Florance) Malark. Shirley was predeceaed by her beloved husband Charles, her parents Patrick and Clayda Malark, her in-laws Clayton and Edith LaFountain, her sister-in-law Millie and nephew Little Charlie Cromp, and Son-in-law Lawrence T. Boardway Jr. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking (preparing feasts), gardening, crossward puzzles, relaxing with a book or watching a television program or series. She volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, in nursing homes/ICFs while Charles entertained with music, she was part of the Marriage Encounter, and Prison Ministry. For those who were blessed to have known her we have no doubt that you never left hungry in body or sprit as her undying faith was contagious. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. November 10, 2018 at St. Mary's Church, Fort Covington. Interment will commence in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bombay.
