Obituary of Hazel Durant
NORTH LAWRENCE - With heavy hearts, the family of Hazel Pearl (Wilson) Durant 87, announce her passing on Monday (January 7, 2019) at the home of her daughter Susan. She was comforted and surrounded with her loving family at her side. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
Hazel was born July 31, 1931 in Helena, NY the daughter of the late Arthur & Pearl Wilson. She united into marriage with Theodore Durant on April 28, 1951 he predeceased her on December 6, 2002. Hazel was a homemaker of eight children and helped on the family farm. She enjoyed cooking for large family gatherings, canning pickles, tomatoes, making doughnuts and pies. She treasured the many camping trips in St. Regis Falls and the countless moments with her grandchildren.
Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her children James (Rita) Durant of Moira, Deborah (Gilbert) Phelix of Winthrop, Michael (Pamela) Durant of Winthrop, Susan (Robert) Brassard of Brushton, Timothy (Lynn) Durant of North Lawrence, Barbara (Brian) Casey of North Lawrence, and Theodore Jr Durant of North Lawrence. Also surviving her are many grandchildren, several great grandchilren and great-great children, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is survived by two brothers Ronald Wilson of Indiana, Philip Wilson of Massena, as well as two sisters Harriette (Glenford) McGregor of Brasher, and Eileen Elliot of Moira.
Besides her parents and husband Theodore, she is predeceased by a set of triplet infants "Baby Durants", a son Thomas, a granddaughter Christine Durant, and a great grandson Dylan Durant. She is also predeceased by her siblings, Walter Wilson, Theodore Wilson, Michael Wilson, Kenneth Wilson, Francis Wilson, Paul Wilson, Joann Gallagher, Orilla LaVare, Shirley Martin, Grace Wilson,, Annette Pendergast and most recently Mary Lou White .
A time of visitation is set for Saturday (Jan. 12th) from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. A Mass of Christian burial will commence at 12 noon at St. Mary's Church Brushton with the Rev. Raymond Moreau presiding.
Memorial contributions in Hazel's name may be made to the Tri Town Vol. Rescue Squad.
