Obituary of Barbara A. Johnston

BRUSHTON – With heavy hearts the family of Barbara A. Johnston, 74, announce her passing on Tuesday (Apr. 9, 2019) at AHMC Alice Center. Her husband Donald and family was at her side providing comfort and love. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.

Born April 27, 1944 in Malone the daughter of late Myron and Voila (Western) Aubrey. She attended Brushton-Moira Schools. Barabara united into marriage with Donald Johnston on April 20, 1963 at the bride's family home in North Bangor. She helped manage the family farm along with working in local restaurants and a supportive wife and a loving mom, and grandmother. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and taking long rides in the country.

Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her husband of 55 years Donald, her children Tammie (Mike) Bashaw of Ft. Covington, Melissa Paquin of Cooks Corners, Phyllis "Buffie" (Jon) Volz of South Bombay, Wayne (Gwen) Johnston of Cooks Corners and her step mother Vera Aubrey of Brushton. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Her siblings Geraldine (Roland) Durgan of Canandaigua, James (Marybeth) Aubrey of Brasher, Gene Aubrey and Tamra Callahan of North Bangor, Rebecca (Christopher) Fleck of North Carolina, Andrew (Julia) Aubrey of North Bangor.

Besides her parents she was embraced by three little angels in heaven her two sons Markie age 3, Donnie age 2, and a daughter Valerie 10 months.

A time of visitation is set for Saturday (Apr. 13) from 11-12:45 at the Cooks Corners Community Church. Barbara's funeral services will commence at 1p.m. Burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions in Barbara's honor may be made to the Ft. Covington Vol. Rescue Squad.
