Obituary of William John Dufrane
BRUSHTON – With heavy hearts the family of William John Dufrane, 68, announces his passing on Saturday (May 4, 2019) with the love and support of his family at his side. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral, Moira.
Born December 30, 1950 in Bombay, NY the son of Ellison and Agnes Dumas Dufrane. William graduated from Salmon River School in 1968. He then went to work at the Shields Slipper Factory and shortly after P & C in Malone before joining the Local Massena Labors Union. Bill worked many construction jobs throughout the North Country and additionally working at Stebon Engineers out of Newark N.J. Eventually starting his career with New York State beginning with the Conservation Dept, then the Highway Dept. before retiring at age 50 from Traffic Engineering and Safety Dept. as 1 of 7 Regional Supervisors.
Bill met and married the love of his life, Shelley (Durant) of Brushton on July 3, 1971 at St. Mary’s in Brushton. Most of all Bill enjoyed time with his family. Bill’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping and helping his sons build their homes. One of his passions was watching his sons and grandchildren play sports. For the last 15 years he was enjoyed the company of some wonderful friends sitting around the campfire at High Falls Park.
Bill is survived by his wife Shelley, their sons Chad (Christina) Dufrane of Moira, Brad (Wendy) Dufrane of Liverpool, NY. His grandchildren Jordan (Rachel) Dufrane, Brandon (Morgan) Dufrane, Jenna Dufrane, Drew Dufrane, Braden Dufrane, Great Grandson Michael Dufrane, and soon to be another “Baby Dufrane” will joining the family. Sisters Linda Fleury, Melissa Dufrane-Hellijas, Sheila Henderson and Brother Carter Dufrane. Brothers in law Elmer (Nancy) Durant, Gary (Debbie) Durant and David Dishaw of Bombay. Many nieces and nephews whom he loved with his whole heart.
Bill is predeceased by his parents Ellison and Agnes Dufrane, Mother and father in law Elmer and Rita Durant. Sister-in-law Susan (Durant) Dishaw and Brother-in-law Noah (Sam) Henderson.
A time of visitation will be held Thursday (May 9, 2019) from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Bill’s funeral services will held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will commence in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alice Ballard Hospice Fund or to the Moira Vol. Fire and Rescue.
