Shirley H. Morrill Lisbon – Shirley H. Morrill passed away at home Friday, May 17, 2019. Shirley was born April 16, 1928 in DeKalb Jct. NY, the daughter of Carleton and Effie (Wells) Holland. She was a graduate of Hermon High School. She attended business school in Watertown, NY. Shirley married Stanley A. Morrill, Jr. on July 31, 1946 and together they owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Hermon. They spent their life farming side by side and raising a family of six children. Shirley was dedicated to her family and as Stan wrote to her on their 50th wedding anniversary, "Shirley has been a wonderful partner. Always at my side in hard times and good. She was the most understanding person I ever saw." Shirley will forever be missed by her children Mary Weber (Colin Davies), Frederick Morrill (Anita), Amy (Ernest) Tresidder, Jane (Steven) Weldon, Sara (James) Chatelle, and Martha (Marcus) Reich. Shirley took great joy in time spent with the many grandchildren and great grandchildren gifted to her throughout her 91 years. She is also survived by her brother David (Eleanor) Holland, California, her brother-in-law James Morrill (Florida) and several nieces and nephews. She served her community as a member of the Hermon-DeKalb Central School Board and served many years as an election inspector. Shirley will be best remembered by her family as always taking the time to share stories and laughter at the kitchen table as she prepared pies and dinners for those she loved. She loved to rock a new baby and never stopped enjoying the sounds of her grandchildren as they played. Besides her parents, Shirley was pre-deceased by her husband Stanley, her sister Frances Thieme and brother Harlow Holland. Friends and family are invited to call at the O'Leary Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 21 from 4-7 p.m. The funeral and celebration of Shirley's life will be held Wednesday, May 22 at 10 a.m. at the DeKalb Jct. Methodist Church where Shirley was a member. Memorial contributions in Shirley's honor may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 U.S. Route 11, Potsdam, NY 13676.
