Obituary of Kenneth A. Friend

NORTH BANGOR – With heavy hearts the family of Kenneth A. Friend, 82, announce his passing on Monday (Mar.30, 2020) at his home. Kenneth was comforted by his family and with the support of Sally LaBarr and Hospice of the North Country. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Born April 30, 1937 in Burke, NY the son of Archie & Marion (Wright) Friend. He graduated from Franklin Academy. Kenneth was a United States Marine Corp Veteran. On June 20, 1964 Kenneth united into marriage with Dorothy Martin she predeceased him July 15, 1996. From 1962-1967 Kenneth worked at the Dwyer's Feed Store, later retiring from ALCOA after 30 years of service working in the pot rooms. At one time Kenneth was a member of the Malone Grange, Loyal order of the Moose, and a member of the ALCOA 25-year club. He enjoyed his weekly card games with his friends and breakfast with his friends. However, he treasured the time spent with his family and his grandchildren. Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of his children Margaret Manning and her companion Rene' Curran of West Chazy, Roxann Friend of Malone, Penny Friend of Malone, and Bruce Friend of North Bangor. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tabitha LaPoint, Sabrina Manning, Derek Friend, Haylee Friend, Connor Friend and Logan Friend. Also surviving are his great grandchildren Paige LaPoint, Lydia Friend, Lirah Friend, and Ivy Friend. His siblings Susan Decker of Moira, Sarrah Heise of Dallas Georgia, June Stephens of Dallas Texas, and Robert Friend of Bombay also survive him. Besides his parents and wife he is also predeceased by a brother Harold Friend. Due to current health care and regulations funeral services honoring Kenneth's life may be view Thursday (April 2nd) 11 a.m. live from the Flint Funeral Home Facebook page. Interment will commence where Kenneth will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Dorothy. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alice Ballard Hospice Fund or to the North Bangor Fol.
