Obituary of Kathy A. Gurrola

MASSENA - With heavy hearts, the family of Kathy A. Gurrola, 66, announces her passing on Thursday (April 23, 2020) peacefully at her home after fighting a courageous battle of cancer for 9 years. She was surrounded by the love and support of her family. Born in Malone on May 4, 1953 the daughter of the late James E. & Barbara K. (Robinson) Dow Jr. She attended school locally and obtained her G.E.D. later in life. Kathy united into marriage with Max N. Gurrola on August 12, 1972. She once was employed at Tru-Stitch in production then promoted to supervisor until closure of the plant, later she was employed with the North Lawrence Dairy Plant as a machine operator. She loved spending time with her family, friends and the family pets. Kathy enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, sewing,her house plants,crafts, jig saw puzzles, scratch offs and going to the casino. Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her husband Max and her son Jamie Gurrola both of Massena. Her siblings Melody (Larry) Savage, Randy (Cindy) Dow and Jody (Marcy) Dow survive her, also several nieces and nephews,one great niece and nephew,aunts,uncles and cousins. Besides her parents and father-in-law Alfredo “Jumbo” Gurrola and mother-in-law Irene Gurrola, she is also predeceased by a brother Ricky L. Dow, Brother-in-law Richard Gurrola, sister-in-law Betty Guyette. In honoring Kathy's wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Arrangements are made with Flint Funeral Home,Moira. Donations can be made to American Cancer Society or Hospice & Palliative Care of St Lawrence Valley in Kathy's name.
