Obituary of Erma Ida Seaman

Erma Seaman - born June 19, 1925 – passed on to her heavenly reward on June 9, 2020 just 10 days short of her 95th birthday. She is now free from all her pain and is rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Erma was the daughter of Harry and Hazel Johnston and grew up as part of a large family on their farm in Brushton, NY. On April 4, 1944 she married Rev. Elton Seaman who was the pastor of the Cooks Corners Wesleyan Methodist Church. She served alongside him in his ministry until December 11, 1954 when a collision with a train tragically took Elton from this world. Unexpectedly left a widow, Erma worked very hard for years to provide for her family and see her children grow up and all graduate from college. Erma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her oldest son Ken and grandson Joshua. She is survived by her sister Sally, daughter Sheri (Baltimore, MD) and her son Chuck (Mt. Juliet, TN and his wife Peggi). She enjoyed picking berries, making jam and spending time with her grandchildren and their spouses: Tim & Sara Thornton, Dan & Kristen Seaman, Matt and Tiff Seaman, Jeff and Sara Seaman, Scott and Ashley Seaman, Allison and Jeremy Rasnic along with all those 23 great-grandchildren! Her family was her legacy and her pride and joy! Mom lived a life framed in generosity and a practice of sharing with others whatever she had. She taught us by example what a life devoted to Jesus looks like. We will miss her greatly. Viewing will be held at the Cooks Corners Wesleyan Church on Saturday June 20th from 10:00 – 11:00 with the funeral service at 11:00. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mrs. Seaman's honor to the Seaman Family Scholarship Fund at Houghton College, Houghton NY 14744. Funeral arrangements are provided by Flint Funeral Home, Moira NY. Words of Condolence and a memory may be shared on the Tribute wall at www.flintfuneralhomeny.com
