Obituary of Leo Dishaw

BRUSHTON – Leo E. Dishaw, 77, passed away Tuesday (July 15, 2020) unexpectedly at the Alice Hyde Medical Center. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Born June 5, 1943 in St. Regis Falls the son of Henry & Grace (Clark) Dishaw. He was a United States Army Veteran, honorably discharged April 7, 1971 and was stationed full time in Anchorage, Alaska. Leo was employed at ALCOA for 36 years. Leo united into marriage with Barbara A. Hooker on February 24, 1968 at the First Christian Church in Brushton, NY. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports. Leo was a long-time member of the Buckhorn hunting club and enjoyed watching his grandson play (Connor P. Dishaw's) hockey games. He is survived by a son Peter (Jennifer) Dishaw of Bangor, and a daughter Anita (Brett) Furnia of Potsdam. Also surviving him are his grandchildren Malorie Bell, Austin Dishaw, Connor Dishaw; great grandchildren Jaxson Bell and Lauren Bell. His siblings Garey Dishaw of Moira, Diane (Bruce) Mackey of Brushton, Jacqueline (Bruce) Rockhill of Brushton, David Dishaw and his companion Marilyn of Bombay, Joanne Dishaw and her companion Sara of Moira, and Donna Martin of Brushton survive him. Besides his parents he is predeceased by a brother Steven P. Dishaw. A graveside service will be held today at 2 p.m. (Friday 17, 2020) at Sunnyside Cemetery, Brushton. Social distancing and facial mask are encouraged. Donations may be made to the Brushton Vol. Fire Dept or to the First Christian Church, Brushton.
