Obituary of Kenneth C. Shorette

MOIRA – With heavy hearts the family of Kenneth C. Shorette, 82, announces his passing on Friday (Oct. 2, 2020), at his home with the love of his family at his side. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Born February 20, 1938 in Brandon, NY the son of Floyd A. & Leona M. (Lamica) Shorette. He attended Brushton-Moira School, on July 22, 1957 Kenneth enlisted into the United States Army. During his enlistment he obtained his GED. He was honorably discharged on July 21, 1960. Kenneth united into marriage with Wanda Knights at the Wingdale Methodist Church with the A. Donald Hodges presiding, a union that celebrated 60 years of togetherness. Relocating back to the north country in 1967 Kenneth worked for ALCOA, working in various departments within the plant until his retirement. From 1970 – 1980 He owned and operated the Pleasant View Bar along with owning numerous rentals through out the Brushton area. He enjoyed ATV's, camping, riding his spider motorcycle, attending stock car racies, volunteering at the Brushton-Moira Food Pantry, and for 10 years he was a member of Moira Vol. Fire and Rescue. He was a member of the Brushton-Moira American Legion Post # 939 and recently received the Legionnaire Award. Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of his wife Wanda, his children Ricky and his wife Vanessa Shorette of Frankfort, NY and Connie Shorette of Brushton. He is also survived by two grandsons Ricky Shorette II of Cortland and Austin Mayville of Brushton. Besides his parents he is predeceased by his siblings Iva Rehome, Donald Shorette, and Holly Shorette. A graveside service will be held Thursday (Oct 8, 2020) at 1 p.m. at the Steven's Cemetery, Brandon. Due to the current health care regulations social distancing and facial mask will be encouraged.
