Esther Leota Clark 1925- 2021 Esther Leota (Westurn) Clark of the Alice Center in Malone, NY, formerly of North Bangor, passed away on March 20, 2021 at the age of 95. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. She was born in Moria, NY on September 28, 1925, the daughter of the late Samuel Freeman and Emma Marie (Kelsey) Westurn. She attended school in Moira. She was a member of the Brushton Pilgrim Holiness Church. Esther married Melbourne Clark on November 17, 1943 in Malone, NY while he was on leave from the Army Air Force during World War II. Melbourne and Esther recently celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary. Cherished memories will forever be in the hearts of her five children – Phyllis and her husband Gary Kemp of Louisville, KY, Karen Keen of Booneville, MO, Jane LaValley of Morrisonville, NY, Keith and his wife Melanie of Plattsburgh, NY and Carolyn and her husband Larry Showers of Churchville, NY as well as 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Esther was preceded in death by her husband Melbourne on January 28, 2021, her parents, and her siblings – sisters Vera Butler, Ruth Hose, Viola Aubrey and brothers Howard, Herman, Donald and Verick. Also, she was predeceased by two sons-in-law – George LaValley and David Keen. Esther enjoyed working at J.J. Newberry's as a young adult. In 1987,she retired from Tru-Stitch in Malone, after working there for 28 years. Esther was a faithful wife and was Melbourne's help-mate throughout their marriage. Esther enjoyed crocheting, especially to make dollies, using her sewing machine to mend/alter clothes, and clipping newspaper articles for her scrapbooks. She also was well known by family and friends for snapping pictures on her traditional film camera of every visitor. Then she had the joy of making several photo albums of her memories. The family wishes to thank the professionals and staff at the Alice Center in Malone, NY for the wonderful care they provided for Esther these past several years. A graveside service for Esther and Melbourne will commence at the Sandhill Cemetery in Dickinson, NY on May 14, 2021 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make donations in memory of Esther may make them to the Brushton Pilgrim Holiness Church in Brushton, NY, 12916 or to the North Country Association for the Visually Impaired (NCAVI), 22 US Oval – Suite B-15, Plattsburgh, NY 12903.
