BRUSHTON- Barbara L. Black, 79, passed away Sunday (Nov. 7, 2021) at the Alice Hyde Medical Center where she was surrounded by family. A time of visitation will be held Friday (Nov. 12th) from 4-7 at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Funeral services celebrating Barbara's life will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Brushton. Interment will commence in the Sunnyside cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at the Hope Community Center in Brushton (next to Stewart's). Barbara was born in Malone the daughter of Stanley and Leota (Niles) Rockhill. She graduated from Brushton High School in 1960. Barbara united into marriage with James Black on April 2, 1976. Barbara loved the Lord and was a faithful member of First Christian Church. Barbara worked as a Lab Technician and once retired she volunteered at the Brushton food bank for many years. Barbara enjoyed watching the older TV shows like the Waltons and Little House on the Prairie, she also enjoyed watching a good Nascar race with her husband James. Barbara always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, whether it was playing games or just talking. Barbara also loved playing practical jokes on her family; whether it was dressing up in some crazy outfit or a prank phone call, she loved making people smile and laugh. Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her husband James and her children Deanna Mills of Worcester, MA, Darrin (Laura) Mills of Mission Viejo, CA, and Daniel (Melissa) Mills of Brushton. She will be missed by her five grandchildren Jordan, Jason, Trey, Taylor, Devan and his wife Alanna, Kendra and her husband Nathan and her 6 great grandchildren. Her siblings Dean (Barbara) Rockhill of Malone, Dana (Diane) Rockhill of Brushton, Lindsay (Candace) Rockhill of Brushton, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins survive her. Besides her parents she is predeceased by a granddaughter Jenifer O'Neill, and a sister-in-law Rosemary G. Rockhill. Memorial contribution in her honor may be made to the Hope Community Center ?
