Loren R. Richards Sr. April 11, 1937 - December 13, 2021 A funeral service for Loren Roger Richards Sr., age 84, of Dickinson, NY will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 3:00 pm at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira, NY with his son Pastor Eric Richards officiating. Calling hours will also be held at the Flint Funeral Home, Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 1:30 - 3 pm. Immediately following the funeral service will be a procession to the Sand Hill Cemetery for the burial. As the 15th of 16 children, Loren was born on April 11, 1937 in Moira, NY to the late Alvin and Edith (Arquette) Richards Sr. Throughout his youth until 1956, he worked on the family dairy farm before pursuing a career in construction where he remained a member of the Carpenters Union through 1975 when the death of his father resulted in his returning home to manage the family farm which he operated until his retirement in 2000. On April 27, 1957, he married Kathleen Eleanor Cummings, daughter of the late Efford and Lillian (Merrill) Cummings. Throughout their 64 years of marriage, they resided at their home on the Heath Hill Road in Dickinson, NY where they raised their seven children; son Loren Jr (married to Lynne Elliot of Ft. Covington, NY), son Randy (married to Laurie Larock of North Lawrence, NY), daughter Lydia, daughter Sandy, son Kevin (married to Darlene Ladue of Chateaugay, NY), son Aaron (married to Kathleen Keuhn of Guilford, NY) and son Eric (married to Debra Mayhew of De Peyster, NY). He was a third-generation farmer and devoted family man who enjoyed country music, playing his 1957 Gibson Les Paul Jr., touring with his family band the country and western music group Loren Richards Jr and the Flying Doves, and annual hunting trips with his wife to New York State's Southern Tier. He was well known in the community as a man of principle and could complete any task that he put his mind too. He is survived by his wife, seven children, nine grandchildren; Loren III, Lynelle, Adam, Josh, Sara, Neil, Ryan, Ashley and Aaron Jr., and nine great grandchildren; Landon, Levi, Leila, Loni, Riley, Chayse, Jason, Jaelee and Molly Rose, and two sisters; Margaret and Elaine. He was greatly loved, and he will be incredibly missed. Memorial contributions may be made in Loren's honor to the Dickinson Vol. Fire Department.
