DICKINSON – At the age of 84 Jay T. Clookey, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday (Mar. 26, 2022). Jay was born in Alburg NY on April 18, 1937, to Merchant & Elizabeth (Wood) Clookey. He attended Moira School. On January 23, 1957, Jay united into marriage with Joan Lyon together the couple made the north country their home. She predeceased him on November 27, 1992. Later Jay joined a union with Kay Wing she predeceased him on June 30, 2002. Jay lived as he passed a peaceful gentle soul. He was employed with the Town of Dickinson for 28 years, and 17 years as their highway superintendent. Jay was a member of the Dickinson Vol. Fire Department and served on the board of directors. Jay was also a member of the Republican committee and town chairman. During its development Jay was employed with the St. Lawrence Power Project and was part of the construction of the Long Sauit Dam. He was also employed at Flint's Rambler for many years in Moira. Jay enjoyed the simple life, by spending time with his family and friends, spending time at camp, watching westerns, working on his trucks in his garage. He especially cherished his time with his "Little Man" CJ. Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of his children Virginia Clookey of Malone, Jacqueline (Lyle) Bouissey of West Chazy, Jay F. (Robin) Clookey) of Dickinson, Jill (Paul) Dyer-Jock of North Bangor, Jaliene (Mark) Moore of Constable and Joseph (Mary) Clookey of Dickinson. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. His siblings Dorlene (Gary) Langdon of Dickinson, Rita (Gerald) Greeno of Dickinson, Janet Clookey as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins survive him. A time of visitation will be held Thursday (Mar. 31, 2022) from 4-7 at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira, with a Mass of Christian Burial held in Jay's honor to be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church Brushton. Besides his parents and wives, he is predeceased by his two brothers Larry Clookey and Raymond Clookey. Memorial contributions in Jay's honor may be made to the Dickinson Vol. Fire Department.
