Obituary of Alton E. Rockhill
Alton E. Rockhill "Rocky" MOIRA – With heavy hearts the family of Alton E. Rockhill known by many as "Rocky" age 79 announce his passing on Wednesday (April 13, 2022) at the Canton Potsdam Hospital. Rocky was surrounded with the love of his wife Evelyn and his children at his side. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Rocky was born in Malone, NY on November 8, 1942, the son to Alton D. and Veronica M. (Allen) Rockhill. He was a 1961 graduate of Brushton-Moira School. On September 4, 2004, Rocky united into marriage with Evelyn Hadley. For 10 years Rocky was a self-employed dairy farmer, later worked for the St Regis Paper Company in Deferiet, NY, retiring from Kraft Foods, North Lawrence in May of 2005 with 27 years of service as a bulk milk unloader in the tank shed. This was a position in the plant that took a lot of strength and mobility to do. For over 20 years Rocky was a fire fighter with the Brushton Vol. Fire Department. At one time he was active in the men's local softball leagues, playing ball throughout both Franklin and St. Lawrence County. Besides setting the example of being a hard worker, Rocky loved raising his beef cattle, hunting, working with his tractor, feeding the birds, watching the Yankees, doing crossword puzzles, and keeping his yard in perfect condition. He enjoyed time with his family and friends and his fur babies (cats). Rocky will always cherish the helping hands that his friends, the Zooks provided. He considered them part of our family. Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of his wife Evelyn, and his children Robyn (Charles) Lord of Constable, Jayelene (Dave) Warner of Brushton, Patty Rockhill of Lakeland Florida, and Scott (Jaylene) Rockhill of Plattsburgh. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. His siblings, Julia Kirche of Zephyrhills, Florida, Phyllis (Wayne) Palmer of Moira, Phillip Rockhill of Moira, Craig (Karen) Rockhill of Zephyrhills, Florida and many nieces, nephews and cousins survive him. He will also be missed by his fur babies Snuggles, Puddles, Ruby, Paws and Mittens. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a niece Christine Palmer-Russell, great-nephew William Palmer, and four fur babies Socks, Muggles, Miya, and Cuddles. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday (April 21, 2022) from 4-7 pm at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. In lieu of flowers, please consider a perennial or Memory tree.
