Obituary of Helen M. Johnston
BRUSHTON – Helen M. Johnston age 91, passed away Saturday (July 2, 2022) at the Alice Center in Malone. A time of visitation will be held Wednesday (July 6, 2022) at the Cooks Corners Wesleyan Church from 11-11:45 a.m. Funeral services honoring Helen's life will commence at 12 noon with the Rev. Bentley McQuinn presiding. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Brushton. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home Moira. Helen was born June 23, 1931, in Brushton the daughter to the late Victor and Dorothy (Stein) Pepper. She was a 1949 graduate of Brushton School. On April 6, 1951, Helen united into marriage with Stanley W. Johnston at the Cooks Corners Wesleyan Church, in 1980 the couple later parted company. At one time Helen was employed with Warner Brothers. After relocating to Ravena, NY in the 1980's she became employed at Ravena Coeymans Selkirk High School. In 1982 she began her career at Albany Medical as a Guest Representative retiring in 1992. Not to excited about being retired she returned to working at the Ravena School System until 1994. Later she was able to love, guide and nurture her grandchildren, officially retiring in 2007. She enjoyed playing scrabble, puzzles, watching the news, and game shows on tv, as well as sharing her gifts of quilts that she made to many of her family members. Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her children Bonita Cady of Moira, Bill (Trisha) Johnston of Springdale Florida, Joyce (Dale) Clark of Dickinson, Randy Johnston of Keesville, NY, Philip Johnston, and his companion Melissa Filion of Brushton, Mary (Mike) Almond of Brushton, Kevin Johnston and his companion Vicky Lauzon of Westville, Robert (Laura) Johnston of Ravena, NY, Tony (Kelly) Johnston of Ft. Myers Florida, and a daughter-in-law Susan Johnston of Brushton. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren 30 great grandchildren 3 great- great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents she is predeceased by 2 sons Keith Johnston, Timothy Johnston, 4 brothers Victor Pepper, Philip Pepper, Roger Pepper, John Mallette, and a sister Theresa Polle.
